The birth of the 100-year unchanged wiper

TRICO was founded in 1910 by J.R. Oishei, a major manufacturer specializing in the development and production of wipers and other components. The original name was Tri-Continental Corporation, so the company name was abbreviated as TRICO by telegram. However, the world's first car wiper was the masterpiece of TRICO, and was invented by J.R. Oishei due to an accident.

Since 1885, when Karl Friedrich Benz invented the first car, and in 1908, when Herry Ford started mass production of cars, all cars running on the road did not have wipers until 1917, when TRICO introduced the first rubber wiper, but the wiper was born because of J.R. Oishei's accident in Buffalo, New York. J.R. Oishei was involved in a car accident in Buffalo, New York, mainly due to poor visibility in the rain.

At first, J.R. Oishei invented the wiper is manual, that is, similar to the past installed in the Vespa windshield wiper, on the inside with a hand toggle, but the driver in the rainy day while driving wiper lever, power steering wheel and automatic transmission is good, but at that time the car is very difficult to drive, it is easy to cause danger, so he also developed with the car engine speed driven pump type, but this is a Fortunately, this did not stop J.R. Oishei's determination to work hard for the safety of sight, so in 1917, he successfully combined the wiper linkage and motor, and became the originator of modern wipers. Later on, TRICO developed the wiper with four points of support in 1937, which allowed the pressure to be dispersed on the glass, the wiper with spring and high-speed design in 1967 and 1968, and the wing wiper with wind pressure in 1976.

In addition, TRICO's business field is not only in the wiper, during the First World War (1914-1918), the production of wipers was temporarily stopped, and the production of ammunition boxes and 20mm armored car shell locks/hinges were produced instead, and the wipers produced after the war were used as materials for the remaining shell locks and hinges.
